Smoking effects

Constable Julie was showing us the effects on smoking.

Corporal punishment

In my view corporal punishment is never right. I think children should not be hit, smacked, scared out of their wits. Before 1990 schools disciplined children by using corporal punishment. Has anyone heard of the saying you learn from your mistake often children were strapped for just making a mistake. Whats the point of teaching children violence.

If you hit children they will think it’s all right to hit other people. I think there are better ways   to get people to learn, like detention or if it’s something really bad like being threatened with scissors and being punched square in the nose, then the parents should get told and they should get suspended for a week at school. at my school two people went into the hall to avoid doing Spanish. Their punishment was they had to write a sorry form and be benched for lunch. I think this punishment was strict enough and the two boys learnt their lesson. After they never ditched Spanish again.

So I think corporal punishment would not have improved the two boys behavior.

Screams and shouts from all the class rooms. Imagine all of your class staring at you while your class staring at you think your behind is on fire.

If you got smacked with a strap, ruler, or belt what would you do scream, shout? Neither will help you. So if you don’t want to suffer in complete agony. Then agree with me and stop corporal punishment around the world.

Johns Olympic Game

PASS THE BALL

Equipment needed:
-9 cones for the goals as shown by the green arrows and the boundry

-1 soccer ball
Rules:
Step 1:You have to pass the ball by dribbling it between each cone. And then you have to shoot the ball into the goal to score one point.

Step 2: The next player will be lined up waiting behind the goal to receive the ball, and this then repeats itself until the whole team has gone through.

Step 3: The winner is the team who scores the most goals and gets the fastest time. But every time the ball goes through the goal the person who's waiting there to receive is has to go back through the goal before they carry on the game.

Aim: The aim is to score as many goals as possible as fast as possible and have fun of course!

The Carbon Cycle

Where is Carbon Found? Carbon can be found everywhere on Earth. Such as water, plants, animals and much more. But is good for us? No, Carbon is not good for us but without it we would be dead. Carbon is always on the move, and will never stop. this is called the Carbon Cycle.
Photosynthesis
People and animals breathe in Oxygen and breathe out Carbon Dioxide that we produce and turn it into Oxygen. Photosynthesis is a process by which green plants use sunlight to turn Carbon into Oxygen.
Respiration
We breathe in Oxygen and breathe out Carbon Dioxide and will keep doing this until we die. How do trees affect the Carbon Cycle? Trees suck up the Carbon Dioxide that we make and they breath out the pure Oxygen that we will breath back in and this will keep going until the world explodes!
Decomposing
What is decomposing? Decomposing is when an animal or plant dies and begins to break down and then all the Carbon that was stored in the creature gets released and the other trees absorb the Carbon
Compaction
What is Compaction? Compaction is when an animal dies and begins the process of breaking down. After the animal breaks down is Compacts and over a long period of time (100 Million years) is starts to become Oil, Gas, Coal (fossil fuels) and we burn these fuels that are then released into the atmosphere.
The Carbon Cycle is a really important part of life for everyone. This will never stop.

EXPERIMENTAL PROCEDURE – JOHN WOODNORTH (Due 25/5/12) Hypothesis: Background: When we were at Taupo in the Christmas holidays some friends were cleaning their tent with Sunlight washing detergent, then shortly afterwards the grass around the tent was dead. This made me ask questions: Was it the sunlight soap that killed the grass and if it did was it because the mixture was too strong? Would an ‘eco-friendly’ brand of dishwashing liquid cause the same results? The results of answering these questions will be useful because we can then tell people: Whether cleaning their tent with detergent will damage their grass; If they camping whether one of the two detergents I have tested is better for using for their dishes when they through the used dishwater away; and If people clean their car on the grass with dishwashing liquid then it might damage their grass. Hypothesis question: If I apply dishwashing liquid to healthy grass it will it damage or kill the grass? Planning a Fair Test:
Experimental Procedure – plan I will be testing does Sunlight dishwashing liquid affect the grass? The thing that I will change is the dishwashing liquid. I will change the strength of the dishwashing/water liquid and also the type of dishwashing liquid. The things that will stay the same will be: the same temperature of water mixed with the dishwashing liquid; the same patch of grass; time of applying the different dishwashing liquid mixtures; the amount of mixture applied; and the time of observations. Step by Step Guide to Performing the Experiment First I will by the two types of dishwashing liquid, one will be Sunlight dishwashing liquid, and other will be a ‘green’ or ‘environmentally friendly’ brand; I will then select the patch of green healthy grass on which to do the experiment; I will build a wooden grid of 9 equal boxes to divide up the spaces for applying 3 different strengths of 2 types of liquid, and 3 control samples of grass to compare the effects of applying the variable liquids. Each box in the grid will measure 25cm x 25cm; I will label each grid with the type and strength; I will check the weather forecast to make sure it is not going to rain on my experiment; I will go to the test site with a bucket of water and measuring cups; I am going to apply 3 strengths of each liquid in the same amount of 200mls each to each 25x25 square of grass. The 3 strengths will be: undiluted; then a medium mixture of dishwashing liquid to water (10 mls dishwash liquid to 200mls water) we will mix this up in a measuring jug from the kitchen the pour on each grid. I will then apply a weak mixture of 5 mls dishwash liquid to 200 mls water. I will clean out the measuring cup between each application; Then I will observe any changes and photograph the grids at the following time intervals: straight after; 1 hour after application; 2 hours after; 4 hours after and then the next day at 9:00 (or earlier if that day is a school day) I will measure the results by making visual observations and carefully time photographs. I am planning to undertake the experiment once.

Research Report:

Research Report:

I looked up an interesting article called ‘Quantifying the Impact of Car Washing on Water Quality and Assessing Simple Treatment Strategies’. It focused on reducing the amount damage to the waterways from the toxins in waste water from car washing water. In their experiments the used Sunlight soap to wash cars. After their experiments they recommended washing cars on grass so the grass will work very well as a filter and stop the bad toxins getting into the waterway. BUT they do not say anything about the effect of the Sunlight soap or other car washing liquid on your lawn.

I looked at the Material Safety Data Sheet for Sunlight Dishwashing Liquid issued by Diversey Ltd (USA) in the [dated 2 August 2011] to see what environmental impacts to see what might be relevant to my experiment. Interestingly it states “No data available”  which is not very useful for people wanting to know if it affects their grass.

I also looked at the Material Safety Data Sheet for Sunlight Dishwashing Liquid issued by  Pental Products PTY Ltd (Australia, but also supplies NZ). There is no heading ‘Environmental Information but there is a heading ‘Ecological Information’ it says: “Contains component which is toxic to aquatic organisms, may cause long term adverse affects in the aquatic environment.” That sounds bad, but it does not say anything about Sunlight soap affecting grass.

Carlotta was born in 1999 on the 11 of may in Germany. She has no brothers or sisters. Her mum’s name is Gudrun and her dad’s name is Stephan. Carlotta Fegert’s dad works at Drager and her mum works as a massage therapist.

The first class Carlotta went to in NZ was room5 at Muritai School. It was a big change for carlotta when she moved from Germany to New Zealand. This was hard because she had to learn a hole other language called English.

All About Me!

Katy Perry biography

Katy Perry Biography
Katy Perry, is a glitzy, super star of our generation. But do you know the whole story?
Kathryn Elizabeth Hudson was born on the 25th of October 1984. Raised by strict Christian parents Katy was only allowed to listen to gospel music growing up. When she became famous, she decided her name Katy Hudson sounded to much like former star Kate Hudson, so she took her mother’s maiden name Perry. So now she is known as Katy Perry. Katy was a pupil at Dos Pueblos High School, but did not graduate, she dropped out early when she received her General Education Development degree ( GED ). Katy is Portuguese and German, but was born in Santa Barbara California USA.
Katy grew up with strict regulations to live by. She has inspired many people to give anything and everything a try. To be wacky, and fun everyday. She grew up singing at her local Church, she had no experience but gave stardom a chance. Katy Perry says she didn’t have a childhood as she was in a strict Christian community. She has now also turned her career into an actress as well, in the 2011 movie ‘The smurfs’ she was “Smurfette”.She has also just brought out her own Nail Polish line, and her own Perfume line. Her first one called “Purr” and her second called “meow” named after her cat.
You have to enjoy every possible opportunity there is while you still young. And learn from the world around you.
Katy is flirty, and fun, which can be troubling because sometimes her clothing are quite revealing. And for the event it can be inappropriate.
Our opinions.
We think Katy Perry is a great role model because she inspires people to carry on, and strive for your dreams. Also she is a role model to people all around the world for different things, e.g to be extravagant, be yourself, and reach for your hopes and dreams.
She is an actress, a singer, a model, and a great person to look up too.
